HOUSING
We provide facility security, cooling systems, power, bandwidth, internet connectivity through one or more ISPs and carriers, plus basic computer security (such as a firewall) to ensure business continuity, while the customer procures servers and storage externally. Space in the facility is often rented by the rack, cage or room.
As mentioned, the equipment is owned and managed by the customer itself. In this way, the Data Center enables companies to have their hardware in specialized facilities that will give them a higher level of security and service level guarantees (SLAs).
The advantage is that customers do not have to worry about managing infrastructure that is not part of their business, and therefore do not require specialized personnel for its maintenance.
RACKS & COOLING
At Thorton Labs we have in-rack cooling systems providing targeted cooling directly. In-rack cooling creates an ideal computing environment by creating a thermally neutral microclimate compared to the rest of the room, as the airflow channels are short, less fan power is required. In addition, the exhaust air is captured at its hottest point, increasing the delta T of the cooling coil.
POWER DISTRIBUTION
At Thorton Labs we have the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system avoiding the possible negative consequences of short power failures, filtering out interferences such as voltage surges or dips and bridging interruptions in the network. This helps to avoid transmission failures, computer crashes, program errors and data loss.
SECURITY
At Thorton Labs we take physical and digital security seriously by keeping data center operations, applications and data safe from threats.
